About Donora
Donora is a donation platform from Austria. We connect donors, private individuals and companies alike, with verified non-profit organizations, in the app and on the web.
Your donation always goes to the organization you choose. Donora provides the technical platform and is not a non-profit organization itself.
How donating with Donora works
From choosing a cause to your receipt in four steps.
Choose a campaign
Browse campaigns from verified organizations and pick a cause you care about.
Give once or regularly
Set the amount and frequency, one-time, monthly or quarterly, and pay with your preferred payment method. You don't need an account to donate.
Get your receipt
Your receipt is sent to your email after the donation. With an account you can find all your receipts and recurring donations in your account at any time.
Follow the impact
Follow the campaign's updates and see what your donation achieves.
Tax-deductible
Donations to eligible organizations can be deducted as special expenses under §4a EStG. Requirements: the organization is on the BMF list, your name and date of birth match your Meldezettel, and the amount is within 10% of your annual income. The organization reports your donation with your name and date of birth to the tax office; Donora prepares the data for it. Without this report no tax deduction is possible.

Verified organizations
Every organization registers in the Donora portal and is reviewed by the Donora team. This includes documents such as the association or company register extract, the statutes and, if available, the tax-deductibility certificate (§4a EStG). Only once verified can an organization create campaigns and receive donations. Every campaign is reviewed by the Donora team as well.

Secure payment with Stripe
Payments are processed exclusively by Stripe Payments Europe. Your payment data is transmitted in compliance with PCI DSS; Donora receives only a payment token and never your full card data.
Your money goes to the organization
The organization is the contractual partner of your donation. Donora holds no funds in its own accounts: payments are received and passed on to the organization through Stripe.
Fees shown openly
In principle, you pay nothing on top of your donation amount. The platform fee and Stripe's payment fees are deducted from the donation; you can choose to cover the payment fee yourself. You see the full breakdown before you pay and on your receipt.
Data protection under the GDPR
The platform is hosted by DigitalOcean in a data centre in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Your name and date of birth for the tax deduction are encrypted and transmitted to FinanzOnline for reporting only.

Create an account for your organization in the portal and confirm your email address.
Get your documents ready
Registry extract, statutes and, if applicable, the tax-deductibility certificate (§4a EStG).
Donora review
The Donora team verifies your information, usually within 1–2 business days, and emails you if anything is missing.
Activation and launch
Once verified, you can create campaigns, add bank details and start receiving donations.
